Always in motion the future is: Speculating on Weekends 3 & 4

While we wait for confirmation on just about everything I figured it was worth while to speculate on one item for this year.  With Ray Park (Darth Maul) attending weekends 3 and 4, it feels like a safe bet to assume that he will agree to once again do the “Trip to the Maul” program.  For anyone attending during these weekends this is a great addition to Weekends for participants and observers alike.  Before the program children are randomly selected to participate in this on stage demonstration.

New location for merchandise this year

Somewhat less stocked Wicket's Warehouse

Veterans of Star Wars Weekend may recall that Soundstage One has been the traditional home for a merchandise warehouse the past few years.  This year, however, things will change.  All the collectible merchandise will be in the AFI Showcase shop (the shop at the end of the Backlot Tour). The rest of the merchandise will be in the store across from the Studio Catering Company (Prop Shop).

Set Up For Your Attack Run!

Better late then never I’ve decided it is time to weigh in on the celebrity lay out for this year’s Star Wars Weekends.   This 30 year anniversary of the Empire Strikes Back is being well served this year and the inclusion of Star Wars the Clone Wars appears to be complete.  Each of the past two years they have worked the Clone Wars in and this year it feels as though it is an equal partner to the films.  For better or for worse this is a natural progression and serves the greater purpose of sharing Star Wars with several generations.  Jeremey Bulloch (Boba Fett- Empire Strikes back, Return of the Jedi and pilot of Tantive IV in Revenge of the Sith) Read more

2010 Star Wars Weekend Guest List Available

The 2010 Star Wars Weekend list of celebrities who will be attending the event this year is out and there's more celebs each weekend than ever before.  Each weekend will have three celebrity guests (in the past there have been generally just two) and there are two celebrity hosts of each weekend this year (usually just one).  The hosts, Jeremy Bulloch (Bobba Fett in the original trilogy) and Ashley Eckstein (Ahsoka from The Clone Wars), will also be in attendance to host many of the events as well as sign autographs.

You can view the full list of celebrities attending to see who will be there when you arrive.

Billy Dee Williams to attend Weekend 3

Billy Dee Williams 2003

Billy Dee Williams, who played Lando Calrissian, has been independently confirmed to be attending Star Wars Weekend for Weekend 3, June 4-6 according to his celebrity management company.

Billy Dee Williams last appeared at Star Wars Weekend in 2003.

Contrarian Corner - The SWW Logo

I've looked and looked at the logo for this year's Star Wars Weekends.  As we reported here several months ago, the logo depicts Boba Fett, jet pack firing, shooting his arm mounted blaster at Mickey, dressed as pre-Return of the Jedi Luke Skywalker.  Mickey, using his blue lightsaber, is deflecting Boba Fett's blaster fire. In my best Comic Book Guy voice I have this to say, "Worst SWW Logo Ever."

Okay, maybe that is a bit much.  I suppose I am in the minority of people who doesn't find the Boba Fett character all that appealing.  There is no doubt, he has some cool armor.  It has a missile launcher attached to it, it makes Boba Fett fly (or falling with style?), and can shoot an ineffective cable from it to ensnare his enemies.  Neat.Read more
