Star Wars Weekends

Over the past few years it has been tough for me to decide where to start with Star Wars Weekends.  Do you start with trying to get fast passes for meeting the celebrities or as a collector do you go for the exclusive merchandise?  In the past I've looked over the list and made a plan with my wife to divide and conquer.  Because of that I was able to make sure that the merchandise items that I had labled as 'MUST HAVE' were obtained or at least that we were in position to get them unless we had a change of heart.  In 2005 this was absolutely necessary to come away with some exclusive items that sold out quickly.Read more

This week it was discovered that the Merchandise line for some items had already started.  Yes, the merchandise line for the Star Wars BIG FIGS has already formed and the beauty is that you can't even see it.  Now there are only a few people allowed in the line initially, but the line is nonetheless there and moving.  Once we get beyond the first few people who are actually permitted in line, then the rest will be put in another line for people wishing to have a crack at Big Figs should they still be available after Weekends.  Of course this has created a minor issue or two for me, but like the daily setting of the two suns on Tatooine, that much was to be counted on.

The first and only peak at merchandise so far has come from the snippet that was put up a short while ago from Attractions Magazine.  While informative some of the pictures are rough ideas (see the hat) and I’d like to see a final product soon.  Still overall what I’ve seen it looks as though we have some decent choices this year. Dinner only tickets are now available for the very special private dinner that Studios Central is hosting on Weekend One of Star Wars Weekends, on Saturday May 23, at 6:30pm.

This weekend is going to be a great one if you are a fan of the new Television series –The Clone Wars.  David Filoni, the Supervising Director of the show & movie who came to SWW in 2008 returns a year later and could be in position to reveal what viewers will see in the next season of the series.  Everyone who met Dave last year liked his enthusiasm.  He is dedicated to keeping the Star Wars form of story telling and character development alive while also pushing this new animated medium.  Again, I personally like hearing from people involved with the production of movies and shows, so if you are a fan of the Stuidos Production end of things, this will be very enjoyable for you.  If you are not a fan of the new things or haven’t taken the time to see it, this is not going to be the celeb you were looking for.Read more
