First look at Weekend 3- Empire Weekend

Weekend 3 of Star Wars Weekends 2009 looks to be the other celebrity gem next to Weekend #1. Veterans who missed David Prowse last year will get another chance to meet with the actor who physically portrayed Darth Vader in the original movies, Episodes IV-VI. (Vader was always voiced by James Earl Jones which was dubbed in later) Children not familiar with the actor will enjoy getting their picture and autograph from the imposing Prowse as he has proven over the years to be very accommodating with his fans. Prowse has not always had the best of relationships with Lucas film and as a result has an interesting take on the making of the movies. There are no hard feelings between the parties (otherwise he wouldn’t be here) but it can make for an interesting discussion at times. Prowse did a great job bringing Darth Vader to life. Like Anthony Daniels (C3PO) and this weekends other guest, breathing life into an expressionless (masked) face is one of the strengths of the saga.Read more

First Look: Weekend 2

Weekend two brings back longtime Star Wars Weekender, Peter Mayhew (Chewbacca).  For anyone who is going for the first time, this man is truly a gentle giant.  I have met this very tall man a couple of times now and he is as nice as they come.  If this is your families first trip, you really want to get some pictures with Chewy here.  Peter Mayhew, standing next to just about anyone, towers over them.  You will be impressed by his stature and his kindness.

First thoughts on new details- Weekend 1

Finally a celebrity list has been released and we can now get a look at how things are shaping up.  It looks as though they have done a decent job bringing in people from the movies as well as sprinkling in some of the people involved with the Clone Wars cartoon series.  Armed with this information it is decision time.  For previous SWW attendees of the event, the choice is to decided which long time Star Wars Celebrities they would like to meet or meet again.  Each of the Movie celebrities have been to weekends before, so it may be more about revisiting or meeting that one person you couldn't fit in a few years ago.  For me the one who will remain elusive is David Prowse, so obviously weekend 3 would look good to me... if I could get there.

Cute little trooper

Be it your first time to Star Wars Weekends or your 5th, one of the perks of attending weekends for fans of the saga is the opportunity to dress up as a Star Wars Character.  Over the years we have seen everthing from little Clone Troopers, Bounty Hunters, adult Jedi and Rebel Pilots.  There are named characters from the original trilogy, characters from the prequels, characters from the expanded universe as well as original Star Wars Characters created by fans just for the event.  A quick look at any pictures from the event will show you that there are always costumes in the audience.  Costuming fans come in all shapes, ages and sizes.  There is no wrong to be had here.Read more
