The Stars of this Universe are real Characters

Darth Vader in the parade

Immersing yourself in Star Wars Weekends isn’t difficult with a little imagination thanks to the fantastic job done by the cast members who work this event.  Similar to the character meet and greets throughout Walt Disney World, park goers are given the opportunity to meet with various characters from the Star Wars community during weekends.  This is a very different experience from meeting with the Celebrity guests.  No fast passes or early lineups at the front gate required here.  During each three day weekend families visiting Disney’s Hollywood Studios are treated to a chance to meet, get a photo and in many cases get an autograph from the likes of Luke Skywalker, Princess Leia, Anakin Skywalker, Padme Amadala, Chewbacca, Jawas, Boba Fett, Jango Fett, Aurra Sing, Ahsoka Tano, Darth Maul, Darth Vader and many others.Read more

Nows the time to begin planning

Ok, if you have been on the fence, or simply considering going but haven't taken that first step, now is a good time to get started.  I noticed that for my region, the airline ticket prices dropped two times over the past week for my trip to Walt Disney World.  The return flight costs haven't reacted yet, but I'm guessing they will also come down some.  Also, the packages available for staying at Disney have come down some over just a few months ago, so I've taken the first steps to securing my position at weekend 1 this year putting out my deposits and some light scheduling.  Despite the questions I had earlier about why I should attend this year, the lure of the Star Wars World and being able to use it as an excuse to once again visit Disney World is just too much to resist.  Now I can still change my mind, but I've decided to wedge my foot firmly through the door and to begin working my way in. Star Wars Weekends info coming out slowly but surely

JTA Figures

Just a quick note to point out that Star Wars.com is doing their part by putting a little bit of information out each week.  We started out with dates and Big Fig information and now have our first, albeit small bit of additional merchandise information.

This year Star Wars Weekends will introduce exclusive Jedi Training Academy action figures.  This set will include Darth Vader, Padawans and the Jedi Master.  This is a cute looking set, especially if your young Jedi has had the opportunity to participate.  I do think the Jedi Training Academy is a must for any young (boy or girl) Padawan.

Also being sold this year will be two banks, sold exclusively at Disney's Hollywood Studios and at Disneyland.  One is of a Storm Trooper helmet, which looks very cool IMO, and the other is of Luke Mickey & Leia Minnie in the Traditional Poster pose of Episode IV a new hope.  You can check it out here: Read more

Studios Central private dinner rate drops!

We are happy to report that the hotel rate has dropped (Yes, dropped, that isn't a typo) and you can now come for 2 nights and stay at Disney's Pop Century Resort and attend our special private dinner event for just $149 per person!  To take advantage of this fabulous offer, click here and reserve your room now before we sell out!

Big Fig information from StarWars.com

Donald in carbonite

StarWars.com keeps the information machine rolling this year with the first official merchandise information pertaining to the Star Wars Big Fig line.  So far the website has exceeded all expectations by getting some information out in a timely manner.  Kudos to them for the job they are doing so far.  (Official Disney Website needs to take note-- Info is GOOOOOOD!)

Weekends 2009* What's in it for me?

As I enter my third year of serving the Webmaster in offering my Star Wars Weekends related opinions and thoughts, I realized this year feels very different to me from the last few.  Sure the economic news and such are vastly different then they were on my first trip to weekends, but as the dates were announced (early for a change, I might add) one question came to mind.  Why should I go to Weekends 2009?  As someone who has been in attendance for years as both fan and father of a fan, there is always the danger of feeling like you've been there and done that.  My daughter is getting older and even some of her interests are changing some.  So why should I go?

Peter Mayhew indicates he is coming to Star Wars Weekends 2009

According to his website, it appears as though Peter Mayhew (Chewbacca) plans on making an appearance at Star Wars Weekends once again this year, but there is no indication which weekend he is attending.  Mayhew has been a regular at Star Wars Weekends and an appearance by him would make a lot of sense.
