Star Wars Weekends

The Toughest part of Star Wars Weekends 2008 has been the MUSTAFAR Heat.  No real suprise there, so lets move on to the second most difficult thing, finding the characters throughout the park.  After talking to many SWW veterans I found that I wasn’t alone.  The Jedi members were moved from their location over by the smoking area at Tattoine Traders back to the Indiana Jones Outpost by Echo Lake.  Many people walked past this area all weekend long without knowing that this was the meet and greet area for the Jedi, Mace, Shak Ti, Anakin, etc.  I figured it out early but have to admit with everything going on, I never got back that far.  There seemed to always be an obligation of some sort deeper in the park.Read more

Matt has posted an interview with Disney character artist Jason Zucker who is responsible for designing some of the new limited edition Star Wars Weekend watches along with working on other Star Wars Weekend merchandise that is for sale this year and talks about the story behind the merchandise and getting the designs approved by Lucas himself.

Steve Sansweet, head of Fan Relations for Lucas, will be at the second 2008 Star Wars Weekends this coming weekend, June 13 to June 15. Steve will be signing copies of The Star Wars Vault, co-authored by Lucas Online’s Pete Vilmur, on Saturday from 12:45 PM to 2:15 PM at Wicket’s Warehouse.

Steve will also be the Lucasfilm presenter at “Behind the Force — Experience The Clone Wars.” During “Behind the Force — Experience The Clone Wars,” fans this weekend will get a chance to meet Steve, and, at the culmination of the presentation, see an exclusive clip of The Clone Wars that can be seen only at this presentation, which runs five times a day for all three days during the entire month of June during Star Wars Weekends.

I just learned that big figs can't be preordered at SWW. You have to go to a website to preorder it.  It is estimated that they won't ship until August or September. The retail for each will be $200 with an edition size of 600. 500 of each will be available for guests of Walt Disney World while the remainder (100 of each) are heading west to Disneyland.

There are new Star Wars Weekend billboards popping up on highways near Walt Disney World featuring storm troopers.

I just got an email from my wife which states quite simply "We are going to Disney World!!!"   The whole family is pretty excited now.  We fly out tonight and had to pack everything last night (ok the wife was packed a few days ago), so now we are just chomping at the bit to get through the work day and get to the airport. 

The packing has been fun and chaotic all at once.  We keep changing our minds on what we are bringing and finding certain items has occassionally been a problem.  Just the other day there was mass panic when I couldn't find my Darth Vader towel!  Hey, what can I say, I like it and I wasn't leaving for Star Wars Weekends without it!  Luckily after about an hour, in which I enlisted my wifes help I did find it.  AHH, balance in the Force once again.
