Star Wars Weekends

While we wait for confirmation on just about everything I figured it was worth while to speculate on one item for this year.  With Ray Park (Darth Maul) attending weekends 3 and 4, it feels like a safe bet to assume that he will agree to once again do the “Trip to the Maul” program.  For anyone attending during these weekends this is a great addition to Weekends for participants and observers alike.  Before the program children are randomly selected to participate in this on stage demonstration.

Ray Park is a martial arts expert.  He trains and educates on the subject regularly and has during past visits to Star Wars Weekends shared his enthusiasm with the fans.  In this program, Park invites on stage a large number of children on stage.  He gives and explanation on his style of training and what he shares with his students.  He demonstrates to the children some moves and guides them through their proper form, explaining the purpose to the children and audience.  He usually works this with the help of the celebrity host and there is some play back and forth between them, which adds to the entertainment. 

In the end the children put together all of the moves from the instruction they’ve been given in a uniform show of self-defense moves.  It is a very thoughtful presentation, which will help you not only appreciate his art form, but also Ray Park the person.  A family man, his enthusiasm for the children and his art really comes through.  Anyone disappointed by not being able to make weekends 1 or 2 can be rest assured that they will do just fine if they make a point to fit this into their agenda.  Of course, this is suggesting that they will in fact do this.  Based on the past success and popularity I’m betting they will.  Now all we need is some news on what they are doing and what they will have!
