Star Wars Weekends

Over the past two months the rumor mill has been pushing this last weekend hard as the one where a BIG Suprise could be in store for fans.  The Rumor Mill has said that George Lucas himself might show up with Harrison Ford as part of the cross promotion for the Indiana Jones movie.  Of course each year it is suggested that the man in Plaid is going to make an appearance.  That so far has turned out to be nothing.  During weekend 1, it had been suggested that Mark Hamill was seen at one of the Disney property Hotels.  Again nothing. 

What I like about the rumors is that they help fuel interest.  If no one cared, none of these would be possible.  The only problem comes when hope turns to frustration at the many inaccuracies.  I'd love nothing more than to believe that Ford and Lucas would show up today and ride Star Tours with some special Year of a Million Dreams winners.  They would make the Stars of the Saga show one to remember with Harrison taking cracks at George's script writing and George reaching deep for some memories of Harrison during "American Graffiti" and "A New Hope".  Then George could speak candidly at the Behind the Force show about the Future of Star Wars, the new movie, the Cartoon Series, the Live Action Series and the future of 3D and the original 6 movies.

Today I'm sure will turn up a suprise or two, but I would suggest that they will be small in scale and focus on bringing everyone one step closer to the Clone Wars Movie release in August.  I'll cross my fingers and hope for everyone that it is more than that.  It would be great to see something where people walked away with that "WOW" expression on their faces.  But the writing on the wall suggests that expectations should be tempered. 

My feeling is that having Dave Filoni there will give those in attendance a very cool glimpse into what you might see in August.  Here's hoping someone asks him to get specific about who is doing the voice work for the movie!  -Another area of great rumor.
