2010 Weekend 1 - Darth Stang

Well, Star Wars Weekend 1 is in the books, and being a huge Boba Fett fan I had a great time! I started my day the way many of you did also, by getting my autograph fastpasses for Daniel Logan and Temuera Morrison. There was quite a crowd and plenty of celebrities to choose from, so I think everybody should have walked away happy with their choices. At park opening, I enjoy watching the Stormtroopers on the roof, and as was rumored for this year, Boba Fett is a special guest up there. He doesn't say anything, but keeps watch for anybody who might be on Jabba's wanted list.

I spent my day focused on the autograph sessions, the parade and the Stars of the Saga show, oh and staying out of the heat as much as possible. I met with Daniel Logan during the morning autograph session, and he was very friendly and enjoyed talking with each guest. I have a Master Replica Boba Fett helmet that I first had signed by Jeremy Bulloch last year, and now includes Daniel Logan's signature. I tried to do some shopping at the Boba's Bounty store, but found that it was extremely cramped inside, with few selections if you didn't want a t-shirt or pin.

Next, I headed over to get a spot for the motorcade parade at 11:40am. Every year, it seems like more and more people line the parade route, making it more of a challenge to find a good and "shady" spot to watch from. The parade, as always, was great, and I see new characters from the Clone Wars adding to the parade every year. It's Noon now, but instead of getting some lunch, I go over to line up for the Stars of the Saga show. Getting in line early pays off, and I am in the 4th row - center for the show. The Stormtrooper show was great fun, and I see that they changed it up a bit this year, including a "special guest" that didn't like what one Stormtrooper had to say. Also new this year, there were several taped greetings from Director Irvin Kershner, John Williams, George Lucas and several others, in honor of the 30th anniversary of the Empire Strikes Back. Again, being a Boba Fett fan, I am thrilled to be witness to a Fett family reunion, with Bulloch, Logan and Morrison all on stage together. The celebrities did their sing along to the Mickey Mouse theme at the end of the show, and you can tell that Jeremy has all the singing talent in that family!

I am finally able to grab something to eat, but not before I use my Star Tours fastpass to go on what may be my final ride, before the attraction is closed down this Fall-for version 2.0. After lunch, and with some energy now, I head back to Boba's Bounty store, and manage to get some pins, a t-shirt and that special throw blanket for spending $60.00 or more. Of course, all of my purchases have Boba Fett featured on them, so this shopping trip is a no brainer! It's about time for my afternoon autograph session with Temuera Morrison, so I head back over to Echo Lake to meet the original baddest bounty hunter in the galaxy! Temuera is great, and enjoys meeting with all the fans. I have him sign my Boba Fett helmet, because technically it was his helmet first, and now includes the entire Fett family of signatures. I surprise Temuera with a question about the last time he was here in 2003, and ask if he is going to be racing any cars at the Richard Petty Driving Experience at the Walt Disney World Speedway again this year? He laughs and says "unfortunately no", but wonders how I new that. I say that I work there, and was working the day he came to the track back in 2003. I remember Temuera telling me what an exciting job I had with the race cars, and I thought "Wow, you're Jango Fett and you think I have a great job!"

I have included some photos of my day at Weekend 1, and while I was reviewing my photos I noticed something. I usually go to the Weekends by myself, and I am always thankful of the Cast Members that take my photo with the celebrities. In past years it has always been...pose with the celebrity-say cheese-have a nice day, and I am grateful for that keepsake. This year I noticed that the two different Cast Members taking photos, both took several "action" shots of the celebrities signing items, talking with me and then the posed photo at the end. I just want to say that I am VERY GRATEFUL for the extra photos, and the way these Cast Members went above-and-beyond the call of duty! Keep up the great work!
Now, I need to get ready for Weekend 3. Save a place for me in the Billy Dee Williams line!
