Weekend 2 - Friday
With the awe of weekend 1 out of the way, it was time to get down for business for weekend 2. My sister and I arrived around 5:30 am for fast passes only to realize that it was completely unnecessary. The lines really didn't start growing until 7:00 and by the time the fast passes were given out, Tom Kane's line was almost longer than Matt Wood's. Thankfully we got the morning session for both so the autographs were done early for the day.
After grabbing a fast pass to TSM, I quickly realized something that others have pointed out repeatedly-crowd problems. The lines for the characters were extremely long making it impossible to see anyone before having to meet up with Tom and Matt.
Both were extremely nice and Matt even joked around about mispronouncing my name-something that many have done throughout my life. The only problem was the lack of shade at Matt's location. A request for Disney-plant some trees. Help the ozone layer and give us some relief from the blazing sun. J
After a stop at TSM, we opted to be smart and try to grab a spot in the shade for the parade. The only problem was that people didn't seem to care that we wanted to see the parade at all. They jumped in front of us at the last minute and stood, making it impossible for someone as short as me to see over them so I had to poke between to snap pictures.
This day was supposed to be the day of characters but we found that everyone wanted to see the same characters we did-including Jedi Mickey and R2-MK. We tried to time the line for Mickey but ended up having to see Minnie because no one wanted to see her. Everyone was waiting for Mickey. I'm echoing here what Darth Snitch has already stated: rotating four characters at one station isn't working. Everyone wants to see the new characters-C3PO, R2-MK...which leaves the others in the dust. If the Disney Star Wars characters must be at one location, maybe have them come out two at a time so the rotation period is shorter between them.
Due to rain, we were forced to leave early but we left this SWW with a bit of insight. First, what Matt has said is absolutely true. There are three days for a reason. While I loved being able to see the extra celebrities (Sunday of weekend 1 and Friday of weekend 2), that was the priority this year. Next year, I hope to attend an entire weekend so I can spread everything out and not miss so much.
Of course, there's always hope to see some more characters at the Last Tour to Endor in August.
