Star Wars Weekends

While the news wasn't the equivalent to a prophecy from the Journal of the Whills, it was certainly good to hear the formal Disney announcement. The dates for Star Wars Weekends were announced for each weekend running Friday-Sunday, June 6-29, 2008. In typical fashion that is all the news that has been shared to this point. JUNE.

So it is decision making time for many. There is no Star Wars Celebration this year as occurred last year. The Indiana Jones IV film release will occur prior to this event, so for Lucas/Disney/Star Wars fans there should not be any conflicts this year. This is the BIG annual event and it is time to start getting excited because no matter what, Disney's Hollywood Studios always puts on a good event for SWW.

Looking things over, this fan has already booked for weekend #1. The government stimulous package has made this a little easier from a dollars and cents perspective and I would presume that others will take advantage of this as well. So if you are thinking of going, book now and consider some of your Advance Dinning Reservations. You will be happier to have this out of the way and can always cancel if circumstances change and you can't go. Air travel rates with airlines like SouthWest are looking good right now for the month of June as well. With this being the only BIG Star Wars event this year, I expect it to be popular.

So we have the first piece of the puzzle and even more questions. What will the art work look like for this years event? (memo to self, keep an open mind) Who will be the celebrity guests? Will there be any special guest appearances like that of Rick McCallum a few years ago? With the Jedi Training Academy being open all year, will there be any new events or the possible return of Adult Trivia? Will the release of the new Star Wars "The Force Unleashed" Video game or the new Star Wars "Clone Wars" cartoon (both with ground breaking technology) have any presence at this years event? What of the merchandise, what will they offer this year? Of the Characters wandering around, is this the year Han Solo returns? Who else might we find. And finally my personal vice, the Big Figs! How many will be available and who might this years characters be?

The time to plan and speculate is upon us so gather all of your Jedi and young Padawans. There is no greater Star Wars event for the entire family than the one put on right here. There is a New Hope for this year. Hope that this years event puts us on a direct course for Star Tours 2.0 and greater things to come. May the Force be with you... always.
