Weekend 2 - lightningtyme

I arrived at the park at 6:20am and was probably about twentieth in line for Peter Mayhew. The line for Matthew Wood was about three times as long. We were prewarned that Mayhew was unhappy with seeing the same people in line five or six times in a day. It was made clear that he would sign for the same person no more than twice. Disney started handing out fastpasses at 810 and after getting Mayhew for 9:45, I got into Matthew Woods' lineand got a fastpass for 4:15. Then to Jay Laga'aia for 4:00. The fastpasses were gone in less than 5 minutes.

When the park opened I went to Wicket's Wearhouse to purchase a matted picture of Mayhew as Chewbacca. The print cost 19.95. They had nothing of General Grevious. Had I known this ahead of time I would have stopped somewhere the day before and bought an action figure or something. I was very disappointed that Disnet didn't capitalize on their celebrity and have something to market.

I made my was over to Mayhew's tent and I was third in line for his autograph. As Mayhew approached You wre immediateley taken back by his size. I guess his legs have gotten bad over the years as he walked with a cane. His cane was a blue lightsbaer. Easily the coolest cane ever. He seemed a little tired to me but gave a broad smile when I asked for a picture. I thanked him for making my childhood memories so special, he shook my han and I was on my way to kill time until my family arrived. When they arrived we got in line for the parade, which may 22 month old loved. He pointed out at the characters and I named them all for him. We made our way to see Darth Vader next. My son warmed up to him more this week and hopefully by next week they'll be good buds.

Then came our scary experience. Right after seeing Vader we saw some Tusken Raiders. Brandt (my son) started smiling at one and we went to get our camera for pics. With my head turned the Raider came right up t himand started making that barking "orf orf" sound which scared the bejesus out of him. I guess they can't see or hear very well out of those costumes b/c he just kept going and going. Brandt pulled me in the other direction and I guess the Raider finally notice him crying and left quickly. That about did it for the characters for the day though. Anytime we encountered another one he wanted no part of pictures, except of course for Leia Minnie. After killing much time I met Jay Laga'aia, who was very, very nice. I bought the poster for Star Wars weekends as a cheap compensation just to have something for these guys to sign. Matthew Wood was equally as nice as Jay. I overheard him doing voices for the kids and saw him actually lift one up to pose for a picture next to his Grevious cutout. The most dissapointing aspect was I didn't have anything for Wood to sign aside from the poster. I told him I wish Disney sold more items with him on it. He said he thinks they do, but may have sold out. Ill be sure to have Vader, Boba Fett, and Clone Wars obi-wan stuff for next week....
