ON THE DARK (NEGATIVE) SIDE:

Not everything is always perfect at Star Wars Weekends.  I love the event and think it is fantastic fun for the person/family/friends who enjoy Star Wars and Disney.  As good as an event as it is, there are flaws in the plan.  The elimination of both Who Wants to be a Millionaire –Star Wars Edition and the Adult trivia comes to mind when thinking of things that have made the event less attractive recently.   Fans patiently await a new wrinkle and the ever coming overhaul of Star Tours (this year coming I hope!) to make up for the losses here.  Matt has done his best to help with the Weekend #1 Dinner Event this website has planned, and thank the maker he set this up.  Still the Universe is ever changing.  Enter the latest possible twist. The rumors persist that JEDI MICKEY will only be available for the Parade and not the traditional meet and greet, all the while three new characters in the form of Storm Trooper Donald, Leia Minnie and Darth Goofy are introduced for the first time.  This looks to be a terrible move on the part of Disney to drop Jedi Mickey from any meet and greet opportunities.  Apparently they want to keep Sorcerer Mickey (the regular Mickey Meet and Greet at Disney’s Hollywood Studios) available at all times, and there cannot be another meet and greet set up with Jedi Mickey.   What on Earth are they thinking?  Can they be serious about this? It is ridiculous to have the new (former FIG) characters available only to exclude Jedi Mickey during the Star Wars Weekends event.  Is it that important to have Sorcerer Mickey available 365 days a year?  With weekends only comprising 12 days in June, couldn’t Sorcerer Mickey take a break?  Even if you insist he must be available every day, couldn’t they make a schedule where he was available first thing in the morning until lets say, after the parade when Jedi Mickey could be come available until the Hyperspace Hoopla?  If the reason for the change is complaints that Sorcerer Mickey is not available to Non Star Wars fans, this would seem like a reasonable compromise.  I guess the reason I’m so irritated about this is that one of the photos I enjoy each year is my family with Jedi Mickey.   His Jedi robe outfit is really top notch and fits in with the theme of the event.  By removing him you would almost get the feel that they could just hold this over at the Orlando civic center if it weren’t for the fact that there will be new Disney/Star Wars characters introduced this year.   The bottom line for me is that not having a Jedi Mickey meet and greet in favor of keeping Sorcerer Mickey is a terrible idea when you realize that you are only talking about 12 days.  As I pointed out there is also a way to compromise on this.  I encourage anyone who is disappointed in this news like myself to call, email or visit guest relations and let them know what you think about Jedi Mickey not being available for meet and greets.  Heck, why wait until your down there… beat the rush:   Guest Communications

Agreed

You raise some good points Colin.  Don't forget that Jedi Training Academy is now a regular attraction, which is good overall, but further reduces the value of SWW along with the other events that have been axed.
