Star Wars Weekends

This week it was discovered that the Merchandise line for some items had already started.  Yes, the merchandise line for the Star Wars BIG FIGS has already formed and the beauty is that you can't even see it.  Now there are only a few people allowed in the line initially, but the line is nonetheless there and moving.  Once we get beyond the first few people who are actually permitted in line, then the rest will be put in another line for people wishing to have a crack at Big Figs should they still be available after Weekends.  Of course this has created a minor issue or two for me, but like the daily setting of the two suns on Tatooine, that much was to be counted on.

Disney Merchadise began the presale of a limited number of Big Figs this week.  They have not given a number on how many are available for presale, but basically, if you make the cut they will take your credit card information and bill you on May 28th for the purchase of the figure.  see link:  http://psc.disney.go.com/eventservices/artofdisneyparks//event/wdw_starwarsbigfigs2009.html

Since I am not local to the Orlando area, this made perfect sense to me.  No line, no waiting, shipping arrangements are made and now I can focus on some other things.  So I called the number given -407-827-7600 and asked if they were sold out of any of the presale Big Figs.  They were not so quickly I ordered the (gulp) two that I had my eyes on. 

For me the Donald in Carbonite was the must have of the year, but the close second was Mickey as Luke because he has a second character with him on the same piece in Yoda.  The others are very nice and will make great display items, but I've reached a saturation point (I have all but Jar Jar Goofy) and the cost for four has priced me out of the complete collection market. 

The good news for me now is that it is all taken care of.  My first merchandise purchase for Star Wars Weekends 2009 is in the books and I'm thrilled with the fact that I'm getting both of the pieces I really wanted with no fuss.  Yep that is the good news.  The bad news.... well my wife understood me to say that I was going to get one.  ONE.  The second one, well that may not go over so well.  Couple that with the idea that I've just begun to shop and you start to get the picture that I must tread carefully here.  Still.... the Force was with me because I've made it through the first line and never even broke a sweat!  Well maybe a little when when I gave the credit card number.
