We are being told that “Lucasfilm Ltd. and Disney's Hollywood Studios will offer a host of surprises throughout the four weekends, promising to bring an unprecedented level of "sneak preview" excitement and fun to the popular Star Wars Weekends” over at Star Wars.com and the Disney Hollywood Studios site. So far the good news comes for the BEHIND THE FORCE segment of Weekends. This year the focus is going to be on the upcoming Star Wars animated series and movie. The title will be “Experience the Clone Wars” and it will take fans through the making of the movie that is due out this August 15th. This will be a real treat for Star Wars fans and anyone who enjoys the idea behind Disney’s Hollywood Studios where fans can see what goes into the making of a film. Better yet, there will be an exclusive sneak peak at the Clone Wars movie, so if you maybe aren’t interested in the making of the movie, but do want to see what the new animation looks like, you will get a golden opportunity here. Lucas has promised to push the envelope on animation technology, so this should look fantastic. The sound will be like any Lucas/Star Wars film, incredible, and the music for the film will be provided by John Williams who scored each of the movies. For anyone interested in the future of Star Wars as well as the direction of Star Wars Weekends this should be worth your effort. For me this makes the BEHIND THE FORCE segment the most interesting since Revenge of the Sith was released in 2005. The new animation film will pave the way for the cartoon series that will be airing over the next few years covering the Clone wars as they happened between Episodes II (Attack of the Clones) and Episode III (Revenge of the Sith). In all this will extend the stories of Anakin Skywalker Jedi Knight and Obi-wan Kenobi, along with some new characters and others that were introduced in the brief Clone Wars Cartoons of 2004/2005. These stories will allow the Star Wars Franchise to expand on the most important war in the history of the galaxy, giving more weight to what this time period meant to the Old Republic and the rise of the Empire. In all the value of this part of SWW has really gone up in my opinion since I am not just a fan of the movies and extended stories, but also a fan of the whole film making process. Could this be a preview to next years SWW? By that time the production on the live action TV series should be in full swing. We could be getting introduced to characters, story lines, special effects and new ideas this time next year. So for the moment the future looks a little bit brighter…. from a certain point of view.
