Finally a celebrity list has been released and we can now get a look at how things are shaping up. It looks as though they have done a decent job bringing in people from the movies as well as sprinkling in some of the people involved with the Clone Wars cartoon series. Armed with this information it is decision time. For previous SWW attendees of the event, the choice is to decided which long time Star Wars Celebrities they would like to meet or meet again. Each of the Movie celebrities have been to weekends before, so it may be more about revisiting or meeting that one person you couldn't fit in a few years ago. For me the one who will remain elusive is David Prowse, so obviously weekend 3 would look good to me... if I could get there.
I really like how weekend 1 has rounded out. Ray Park for anyone who missed him last time around is fantastic. His "Trip to the Maul" that he did as a bonus to the weekend was one of the better events of 2007's weekends. Ray Park is well worth your effort, he is very kind, a good family man and has a genuine appreciation for the Star Wars fans. Warwick Davis is a great guest in his own right. I've enjoyed him each time I've met him (he has been a guest and host before - a SWW regular) and even if you've spoken to him in the past, he is always working on his next projects, so there is never a lack of things to talk about. I personally enjoyed his latest role in the Narnia series and would like to ask him about the next Harry Potter movies of which I'm also a fan.
Not to be overlooked for weekend one should be James Arnold, the voice of Obi wan Kenobi in the Cartoon Series. He has the task of presenting one of the best known voices in the Star Wars series as created by two different actors. A bit of a challenge when you really think about it, because if you screw it up, EVERYONE will know. I'm interested in hearing about his take the role and how easy or difficult it has been. Then the hosts look like very good choices. Ashley Eckstein who voices Ahshoka will be new this year, but has had a big role in the Cartoon Series. I know my little one will enjoy hearing her speak about the character and get a kick out of seeing the person whom the voice comes from. I'm hoping they discuss the production aspects in Hollywood Studios fashioin. Either way, she should be fun.
Jay Laga'aia has hosted before ('07) and did a fantastic job. He helped Ray Park with his "Trip to the Maul" and provided the entire event with a lot of energy. -not easy in the Florida heat! If you haven't met Captain Typho before, you will be impressed. He is a fun guy who embraces his role as host and keeps things moving along. Overall Weekend 1 looks like a lot of fun.
